Newquay joins the Airport Parking Rip Off bandwagon

Yet another airport joins the parking rip off bandwagon and has scrapped free drop off and pickup parking. This time it is Newquay Airport and they have introduced a minimum charge of £1 for just 30 minutes and going upwards from there until they hit £13 a day. These charges came into effect on April the 1st but this is no joke and isn’t funny.

Today’s Exchange Rates Explained

The big news story this week has been the Cypriot banking crisis. What made this banking crisis different from the last banking crisis was the initial decision to levy a one off tax on individuals’ bank balances. Up until now savers money has always been protected up to the limit of £85,000. Taking money from savers is a major sea change.

This weeks question is… ‘What is the best kind of money belt?’

What is the best kind of money belt? Obviously I cannot answer this by endorsing a single product but there are really three kinds of money belt in fashion at the moment. There is the traditional money belt that really is a kind of belt that you wear around your waist with a pouch on the inside. These are OK for goig through an airport or city and taking a large amount of currency. They are not so practical if you actually want to get the money and actually buy something.

Airport Parking e-Petition Part 2

When I did my first post about airport parking set down and pick up fees [http://www.compareholidaymoney.com/blog/airport-parking-rip-off/] the original e-petition had just 100 signatories. One month on, we have nearly doubled that figure. These e-petitions have a life span of twelve months in which we need to gather 100,000 signatures and at least 1 MP’s support.

Airport parking Rip off?

Living in St Ives I am used to seeing expensive parking charges but £2 for 10 minutes and £3 for 15 minutes caught even my eye as over the top. Stansted Airport is the first airport to close their drop off and pick up parking spaces and in its place they have created what they are calling “Express Set Down”. They now charge £2 or £3 just to stop and drop off passengers and their bags. One can easily imagine that this is something that is going to spread to other airports and once you are there I cannot see that there is much you can do about it but pay up.
