This weeks question is… ‘Who has the best exchange rates?’

Who has the best exchange rates? I obviously cannot give you a ‘one company’ answer to this question. It is all to do with how has the best exchange rate at the particular time you want to place your order because they all change and they are all competing against each other. In broad strokes I would say the smaller onlne only bureau de change have the best exchange rates because they have the lowest exchange expenses and they do not have branches to look after. All they do is online currency sales so they are very competitive.

The next option is probably companies like Marks & Spencer or The Post Office. these hav a national network and they can agregate so many sales together that they have the buying power to offer your a good exchange rate and are quite compeitive as they are actively trying to sell this service. The worst exchange rates are nearly always from the high street banks they are not really interested in the tourist exchange rates market. They would rather be dealing with huge international transfers but they are not interested in small amounts of cash. So avoid the banks, buyig your money in the airport, because you are a captive audience there and you cannot shop around and certainly do not buy it on the plane. So Online and from the online only providers will give your the best exchange rates.

This weeks question is… ‘What is the best way for a tourist to handle money in Japan?’

What is the best way for a tourist to handle money in Japan? Because the exchange rate for the Pound to the Japanese Yen is about 126 Yen to the Pound you can end up dealing with some very large numbers very quickly. A £500 budget for your holiday will give you over sixty three thousand yen to play with! So unless you like counting out large numbers of notes you are probably best off with a pre-paid currency card. Japan is a very high tech place, especially Tokyo which for many people is the main draw. Using a currency card in Japan will be no problem and most places will accept a card. So I would say the best way to carry your travel money and get the best Yes exchange rates is going to be a currency card.

Foreign Currency Exchange Rates - The Key to Getting the Best Deals

According to a report from Halifax from 2009, there were, perhaps surprising, a number of Brits looking to buy property abroad at what turned out to be the height of the banking crisis and one year in to the unending double dip recession. We have noticed more recently that wealthy individuals are starting to buy up assets suggesting that they are expecting firstly that prices are not going to drop any further and that prices may start to rise again soon. I said this in January and still think it is true. Since then the government has announced measures intended to promote the housing and building industries which may help bring about that increase in house values. The problems in Greece, Cyprus and even Spain and Ireland may have lead to people trying to dispose of second homes, suppressing prices. If you are looking to buy abroad you should do careful research in order to ensure that they get the very best foreign currency exchange rates. What you can save between different suppliers can make a huge difference when you are dealing with sums big enough to buy a house or apartment.

Generally speaking, just like travel money, the most competitive foreign currency exchange rates will be found from specialist currency exchange experts. The fluctuations that determine exchange rates are becoming more imperative than ever before and this is particularly the case when it comes to large scale foreign currency transactions such as buying property abroad. Speaking to foreign currency exchange rates specialists is the best way of ensuring that your pound goes as far as possible.

Foreign Currency Exchange Rates – Massive Interest

According to a report from Prime Location, the number of searches to purchase property overseas are on the increase compared to the same period last year. This just goes to show that many people are becoming serious about buying homes overseas – and, because of this, there is a much greater interest in foreign currency exchange rates amongst thousands of Brits this year. When dealing with large level foreign currency exchange transactions, finding the best foreign currency exchange rates can save the consumer hundreds if not thousands of pounds by ensuring that they get more foreign currency to the pound. These sorts of deals are invariably found from more specialised dealers of foreign currency exchange rates.

Foreign Currency Exchange Rates – Fluctuation Knowledge

It goes without saying that fluctuations in the foreign currency market are more pronounced in times of global economic turbulence and it is crucial for those planning major overseas transactions to speak to foreign currency exchange rates experts. Speaking to Halifax, Christopher Chadd, states, “This is becoming ever more important. As investors become ever more sophisticated and currency fluctuations more and more volatile, we are seeing a large number of investors looking for advice on currency plays.”

We try and monitor who is offering the best all round service when it comes to these large payments and regular payments and you ca find out more on our dedicated currency transfers page.

This weeks question is… ‘What are the advantages of using a travel money card?’

What is the most value friendly way to spend money? The answer is really anything except a credit card. If you can get a really great exchange rate for cash then cash allows you to do things like haggle in the souk or market and you can get the best value that way. As long as you got a good exchange rate anything you buy will be good value because it is costing you less than it would have done otherwise. The other option is the pre-paid currency card. These nearly always give better exchange rates on the day than cash because the compnay doig the conversion do not have to deal with the cash, there is no money handling, less security issues for large amount of cash coming into and out of their premises. They don’t have any of those expenses and of course they are hanging o to your money and earning a little bit of interest and making that money work for them between the point that you buy the card and you spend the money. So they give good exchange rates and when payig by card then that is a good option. So anything but the credit card. With your credit card you spend the money abroad or draw out money and that is seen as a cash advance and that has the highest rate of interest when you come home so unless you are payig it all off in one go you could be payig 10% or 20% more than you thought for your foreign currency. So pre piad car or cash wll give you the best value for money.
