"Just collected €500 from my local post office in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. So easy to buy on line, really good rate of exchange and the paperwork and ID requirements on collection were so simple. Must mark it down a star though, as the 'one-man' counter service was so slow and inefficient.I queued for nearly 20 minutes behind a load of customers either collecting pensions, cashing money bags in or posting eBay packages! Next time I'll get the PO to deliver to my home!"

"I've used this site twice in last two weeks for both € and $. People are getting so confused about the PO internet rate and the PO counter rate. Internet rates should be compared with other similar on-line providers and counter rates with other high street/airport providers. As a consequence the rating for this site is not truly reflective of how good the service actually is. The PO should assign a 'moderator' to the comments and take off inappropriate and incorrect comments where many customers are comparing the PO's counter rates with its internet rates. Perhaps the PO is not bothered about these ratings otherwise it would 'vet' them first and 'moderate' them. Regardless I will continue to use this excellent service to get a great exchange rate and convenient collection service from my local PO."

"This is for all those people who have given the online Post Office a poor rating due to either buying over the counter or collecting from the local Post Office. The idea of online is exactly what it says and means.The Local P.O's are franchised and the owners have to make a living with all the overheads that an online system doesn't have so it stands to reason that the rates will be less. I have NO involvement with the P.O. or any of its branches but I have used the online quite a few times and can not fault them and will be using them again in about three weeks time."

"The rates are good and it is quick on delivery BUT PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR BANK AS THEY CHARGE FOR THE TRANSACTION. Sometimes 2.5% on the deal and that can make quite a difference. Not the Post Offices fault just the banks trying to make more money."

"I have just used this service to buy Euro's and the process was easy and I obtained the rates shown on the website. These were much better than the rates in town. The money came on the day I asked and the whole process was trouble free. Dont go to the local Post Office. Get your currency here. Better rates and, over £400, posted to your door free! The rates shown here are for the web based service and the reviews here should be for that service and not about experiences in your local post office. You WILL NOT get these rates at your local post office. The proceedures for ordering your currency on line are very simple. The whole process is easy to follow and you will get the rates shown on this site and the currency will (usually) arrive in the post the next day. As people have said , do not compare Apples and Pears. Dont go to your local PO and then complain here that you didnt get the rate shown here, because you wont ! This is a good service and easy to use. I have ordered Euros and Turkish Lira and have had no problems with either, at good rates , better than my local Post Office !"

I have used this site and found the service very good. The money was taken from my debit card and I received the foreign currency the next day. "Just purchased over the counter at the Post office and got 1.13. Online they are selling at 1.166. That's 3 cents per £ less. I just assumed the rate was just less in branches and had no idea it changed branch to branch."

"Currency exchange rate at local post office is what is advertised nationally. A few days ago,1.17 euros to £ which was two cents less than best rate I could find on the net. However,what makes it the best deal around is that it is the same rate when you buy currency using the Post Office Credit Card. Not only that, there are no charges, no commission and it doesn't cost you anything until the pay by date on the next statement.The PO issue statements on 12th of the month to be paid by the 7th of the next month following. Use it for purchases abroad worldwide (it's a Mastercard)and still no charges apply. eg:Buy currency on 13th January, bill issued 12th February, Pay by 7th March. Almost eight weeks! If they'd give the top exchange rate as well I'd give it six stars. It's not the slickest banking website but you can check your account and pay the bill online. (I can't find a way to cancel paper statements, which is a bit old hat nowadays). It's a Martin Lewis best buy and I agree."

Collecting tomorrow from my local friendly PO at my convenience. I think that is a true 5 Star service."

"Now then my dears lets compare those'Apples with Apples' and not them 'Apples with Pears'. A £500+ purchase on the PO Internet site gets you their advertised rate 'GAURANTEED' and it's always in the TOP 6 of providers. If you just turn up at your local PO without placing your on-line order, then you'll receive the rate on the day in the Branch!"
