Airport Currency Exchange Rates Compared For You

If you are travelling away on holiday this year via an Airport then the convenience of Buying Travel Money from the Airport is very easy. But this convenience is very expensive indeed for consumers especially as you have less time and less travel money suppliers to compare currency exchange rates from before you board the airplane.

As a Travel Money Comparison website our job is to help you find the best currency exchange rate deal before you go on holiday and recently our director Peter from Compare Holiday Money went on holiday to Iceland where he flew out of Heathrow Airport.

Peter kindly took a photo of the Travelex Currency Exchange Rates at Heathrow Airport and this has given us a great opportunity to compare these exchange rates with all our online Travel Money suppliers and their Currency Exchange Rates from the same day using our new Historical Exchange Rates Graphs and data.

Using our Historical Exchange Rates Graphs and data I have formulated a spreadsheet, as below, to compare the Travelex Currency Exchange Rates for the currencies on offer in the above photo to see how the Exchange Rates compare from Heathrow Airport vs All the CompareHolidayMoney.com Online Currency Suppliers which in fact includes Travelex themselves.

In the above spreadsheet the Exchange Rates from our website highlight the best online Exchange Rate from the same day for that particular currency from all our Travel Money suppliers. The spreadsheet also highlights how much you would get in return for exchanging £1000 spending money and in every case you would have received more spending money in return than if you had purchased from Travelex at Heathrow Airport at the last minute.

Not only this we have highlighted in the spreadsheet formula the percentage difference in the exchange rates offered at Heathrow Airport versus all our Travel Money suppliers online. Back in 2012 we conducted a Family Travel Money Survey where we found that consumers could save up to 10% online by comparing and buying travel money in advance and from this new recent data this most certainly backs up this theory four years on.

Get Up To 12.50% More Online…

In fact in some cases on some of the less common currencies such as the Icelandic Krona and Thailand Baht you could get up to 12.50% more online than if you had left buying your currency to the last minute at the airport.

But, it is worth remembering that if you do leave buying your Travel Money to the last minute then our new Click and Collect Currency comparison service gives you a back-up solution to compare exchange rates for collection if you don’t have time for delivery and you can even check exchange rates whilst you are on the go using your mobile on the high street if necessary.

Check Airport Currency Exchange Rates Online…

If you would like to check Airport Currency Exchange Rates online just head over to our Click and Collect Currency comparison service and input the full airport name you are flying from. Alternatively, you can check Exchange Rates by location using your post code.

However, it is worth bearing in mind that not all Travel Money suppliers offer click and collect and sometimes you could be missing out on even better Exchange Rates from the online only suppliers. To check all Travel Money suppliers just use our Buy Currency comparison section to compare all currencies and all suppliers available to you from one comparison table.
