How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Bangladeshi taka rates shown here are different to the Bangladeshi taka rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the BDT / GBP exchange rate, we show the BDT rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.005311 literally means 1 BDT = 0.005311 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Bangladeshi taka you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.005311 becomes 188.3. Or put another way, 188.3 BDT = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
