How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Indian rupee rates shown here are different to the Indian rupee rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the INR / GBP exchange rate, we show the INR rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.009777 literally means 1 INR = 0.009777 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Indian rupees you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.009777 becomes 102.3. Or put another way, 102.3 INR = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
