How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Mauritian rupee rates shown here are different to the Mauritian rupee rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the MUR / GBP exchange rate, we show the MUR rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.01833 literally means 1 MUR = 0.01833 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Mauritian rupees you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.01833 becomes 54.57. Or put another way, 54.57 MUR = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
