How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Sri Lankan rupee rates shown here are different to the Sri Lankan rupee rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the LKR / GBP exchange rate, we show the LKR rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.002282 literally means 1 LKR = 0.002282 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Sri Lankan rupees you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.002282 becomes 438.3. Or put another way, 438.3 LKR = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
