How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Egyptian pound rates shown here are different to the Egyptian pound rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the EGP / GBP exchange rate, we show the EGP rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.03427 literally means 1 EGP = 0.03427 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Egyptian pounds you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.03427 becomes 29.18. Or put another way, 29.18 EGP = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
