How we display buy back rates
You might notice the euro rates shown here are different to the euro rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the EUR / GBP exchange rate, we show the EUR rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.8792 literally means 1 EUR = 0.8792 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of euros you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.8792 becomes 1.137. Or put another way, 1.137 EUR = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
