How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Jordanian dinar rates shown here are different to the Jordanian dinar rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the JOD / GBP exchange rate, we show the JOD rate relative to the pound so a rate of 1.230 literally means 1 JOD = 1.230 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Jordanian dinars you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 1.230 becomes 0.8128. Or put another way, 0.8128 JOD = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
