How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Kenyan shilling rates shown here are different to the Kenyan shilling rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the KES / GBP exchange rate, we show the KES rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.006405 literally means 1 KES = 0.006405 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Kenyan shillings you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.006405 becomes 156.1. Or put another way, 156.1 KES = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
