How we display buy back rates

You might notice the Philippine peso rates shown here are different to the Philippine peso rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the PHP / GBP exchange rate, we show the PHP rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.01450 literally means 1 PHP = 0.01450 GBP.

However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Philippine pesos you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.01450 becomes 68.95. Or put another way, 68.95 PHP = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
