How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Swiss franc rates shown here are different to the Swiss franc rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the CHF / GBP exchange rate, we show the CHF rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.8979 literally means 1 CHF = 0.8979 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Swiss francs you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.8979 becomes 1.114. Or put another way, 1.114 CHF = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
