Cayman Islands dollar banknotes and coins

One Cayman Islands dollar ($) can be subdivided into 100 cents (¢).

There are six denominations of Cayman Islands dollar banknotes in circulation: $1, $5, $10, $25, $50 and $100; and four coin denominations: 1¢, 5¢, 10¢ and 25¢.

In 1981, the Cayman Islands Currency Board introduced banknotes with a face value of $40. The notes were withdrawn from circulation a few years later and replaced with $50 banknotes in 1985. The $40 bills are now very collectable and can fetch 10 times their face value at auction.
