How we display buy back rates
You might notice the Icelandic krona rates shown here are different to the Icelandic krona rates offered by currency suppliers on our comparison pages. The rates are actually the same but are just presented in different ways. When we talk about the ISK / GBP exchange rate, we show the ISK rate relative to the pound so a rate of 0.005940 literally means 1 ISK = 0.005940 GBP.
However, UK currency suppliers choose to show this rate in terms of the amount of Icelandic krona you would need to exchange to receive 1 GBP, so (1 /) 0.005940 becomes 168.3. Or put another way, 168.3 ISK = 1 GBP. The two rates are interchangeable but currency suppliers prefer to show the second rate which they call the buy back rate.
