EasyJet is introducing a new hand luggage check-in service. This will encourage customers to check-in their hand luggage at the airport baggage desk which will allow the customer to avoid unpacking their bag at security. This is great for those who prefer to travel lightly, as they won’t need to drag cabin luggage around the airport.
How much does this cost?
You can make the decision to upgrade to the ‘hands free’ service at the airport, as opposed to during the booking process. This service comes at £4 per passenger each way or £10 for a group bundle each way. Card payment is available at the bag drop desk.
Please note the maximum bag size is (length + width + height) = 56cm x 45cm x 25 cm, including handles and wheels.
EasyJet is using this service at all airports across its network, excluding Gatwick. Last spring, this scheme was launched in France and was used by more than 9,000 customers within a four week period and was seen to be a success.
Andrew Middleton, the airline’s chief revenue director said:
“We’ve seen a fantastic response from customers upgrading to the ‘hands free’ experience and we’re confident once you go ‘hands free’ you’ll never want to drag cabin baggage through the airport again.”
Passengers who use this ‘hands free’ service will also be given the advantage of boarding the plane after those with speedy boarding passes. They will also be provided with a small plastic bag to carry essential items alongside any items they have purchased at the airport.
All ‘hands free’ bags will be labelled as priority and will be looked after right through to the flight destination.
