Now that international travel restrictions have been eased, travel insurance cover is now once again valid for your trip. However, up until now Insurance brokers have not specifically added in clauses that will cover you for either cancelling your holiday due to infection with COVID-19, or catching it while on holiday.

From 21st July Compareholidaymoney has at least 4  providers on our travel insurance page that will provide cover for COVID-19. When you request a quote using this page we’ll indicate which policies offer this cover along with specific information on exactly what is covered.

Summary of cover

If an insurer is covering Coronavirus a summary of their terms will be returned with your quote request. A typical summary would be:

“This policy provides cover against COVD-19 for you and anyone named on the policy including if you have to cancel your holiday due to a positive coronavirus test, are denied boarding by the transport operator, fall ill with coronavirus whilst on holiday or if your hotel has to close as a result of coronavirus.

Cover may not be provided under certain circumstances; for example if you are shielding, your doctor has advised against travel or if you are self-isolating because you have come into contact with someone who has coronavirus”

Full policy wording

A typical quote will also have a link to the full COVID-19 cover and policy wording documents so you can be fully informed before you decide to take out your insurance. The example is from Rock Insurance Group.

This is particularly good news if you are thinking of getting in a late Summer or Autumn break. All of the countries added to the travel corridor announced by the Government in early July have made great progress in minimising the virus and the fact that you can now have insurance adds another level of reassurance.

You can find details of up to date UK Government travel advice to any country or territory on the FCO website.

If you want to check out travel insurance cover then you can visit our travel insurance page and get a no obligation quote for any country in a few seconds which will provide all the details of cover including coronavirus.
